Quote of the Moment

This is an amazing quote by Kofi Asare Opuko, an African Theologian, on how living in the context of a community is the only way people find meaning in life:

If I gain my humanity by entering into relationship with other members of the family, both living and dead, then it follows that my humanity comes to me as a gift. This does not mean to say that it is not mine, that my being is part of the group, so that I have no individual value and destiny.

It means rather that it is not something that I can acquire, or develop, by my own isolated power. I can only exercise or fulfill my humanity as long as I remain in touch with others, for it is they who empower me.
